Ride Scotland’s Wildest Routes: The Numb Bum & Sare Erse Challenges 2025
Scotland’s ultimate motorbike endurance event is back! The Numb Bum Challenge 2025, taking place on the 3rd and 4th of May, is calling all brave bikers for an epic journey across Scotland’s most stunning and extreme corners. Hosted by the iconic Wanlockhead Inn, Scotland’s highest pub, this year’s challenge promises breathtaking views, sore saddles, and memories to last a lifetime—all in support of Blood Bikes Scotland and Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes.

The Numb Bum Challenge: 1,000 Miles of Scottish Glory
When we say “challenge,” we mean it. Riders will embark from Wanlockhead, venturing to Scotland’s most southernly, westerly, northernly, and easternly points before returning to the cozy warmth of the Wanlockhead Inn. Here’s the thrilling route breakdown:
- Start: Wanlockhead (Orange)
- Southern Point: Mull of Galloway Lighthouse (Pink)
- Western Point: Ardnamurchan Lighthouse (Green) – accessible by ferry or a longer scenic route
- Northern Point: Dunnet Head Lighthouse (Red)
- Eastern Point: Keith Inch near Peterhead (Yellow)
The full journey may take more than 24 hours, so participants must plan carefully, capture photos at key stops, and ride safely. The reward? A warm welcome back at the Inn with food, beer, and plenty of camaraderie. The best photo from the challenge will win a prize, so get creative with those scenic shots!
The Sare Erse Challenge: May the 4th Be with You!
For those seeking a smaller, yet equally exciting adventure, The Sare Erse Challenge on Sunday, May 4th, is perfect. Riders will loop through Bonnyrigg, Cockburnspath, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Hawick, Langholm, and Lockerbie before returning to Wanlockhead for a BBQ and banter. There’s also an optional detour through Dumfries or along the coast, and you can channel your inner Jedi by dressing up as a Star Wars character for the ride. Chewbacca selfies, anyone?
What You Get & How to Enter
For just £35 per participant, you’ll receive a Numb Bum/Sare Erse 2025 patch and a custom snood, specially created for the event by Rat-Ryder HQ. All proceeds from the event will support Blood Bikes Scotland, ensuring your adventure also makes a meaningful impact.
